The value of a domain name is only as good as the offers you receive. That usually sets a floor for the value of a domain name. The value can be subjective - that is, the name can hold an intrinsic value to someone, or it can be objective - that is, it can be based on popularity of the acronym or keywords.
One way to begin finding the objective value of a domain name is to do a google on the keyword, or in this case, acronym, of the four letter domain name. The more targeted results, the higher the value.
