Google in Disguise?

When you browse to the SearchMash site at first you think, oh, this is just another one of those small, wannabe search engines. Further examination shows that this search engine yields search results remarkably similar to Google search results. It turns out that this is Google's "testing search engine" - in other words, where they can try out new layouts and methods of implementing their search algorithm (simply check out their privacy policy, you'll notice the line "SearchMash is a website operated by Google Inc." One nifty feature in the current incarnation is the ability to "scroll" pages instantly without having to reload a new page.
