This is a two-part tutorial. If you are using Outlook Express please read our tutorial on How to Filter SpamAssassin Mails in Outlook Express; otherwise read on. If you have access to Cpanel and wish to configure SpamAssassin, read our tutorial on How to Configure SpamAssassin.
If you're using Outlook let us know and we'll setup your filter to work with Outlook. Once you've done this, open Outlook and select Tools -> Rules and Alerts:
In the same window, click on specific words under "Step 2. Edit the rule description":
In the window that pops up, type the phrase "***SPAM***" and click "Add":
Once you've done this click on "OK." Next click on specified as in the window below:
That will popup the following window, where you'll want to click on "Junk E-mail" folder under "Personal Folders." Alternatively, click on "New..." to create a new junk mail folder:
Click "OK" once you've selected your junk mail folder. You're almost done. In the next window click on "Finish":
And in this last window click "OK":
If you are still experiencing too much spam, ask us to increase the power of your filter. Conversely, if too many valid mails are ending up in your Junk Mail folder, ask us to lower the power of your filter.
