IStockPhoto has to be one of the best stock photography providers out there. Run by Getty Images, they offer thousands of professional quality stock photography, at different resolutions, image formats, and more, at very affordable prices. The quality of stock photography at IStockPhoto far exceeds that of its nearest competitors.
It's quite simple really. You click here to sign up for an account, and then you can search for and download stock photography. You will be given a choice of image size - the larger the image, the more expensive it is. The smallest image size generally runs around 400-500 px in width or height and cost 1 IStockPhoto credit, or USD $1.50. Given the quality of images on IStockPhoto, this is one of the best values in the stock photography industry. And if you take advantage of promotion and select an IStockPhoto Code from the list above, you'll save even more.
The best part about IStockPhoto is the ability to narrow down your search to exactly what you need. Not only can you sort by keywords, but you can use an advanced photo search and narrow down your search by:
Once you've conducted a search and narrowed down your selection to a group of images you're interested in, you can filter the images by additional parameters such as:
Now that you've found the image you're looking for, you're probably wondering what you can do with it? IStockPhoto images are royalty free, which means you can use them in your brochure, website, etc. and you don't have to pay additional royalties to the photographer. However, if you wish to use them in material you're going to mass distribute or sell for profit, you'll need to purchase an extended license, which will increase the cost of each stock image you select. Use an IStockPhoto Code from the list below to save off stock images, regardless of the licensing option you choose.

Works like a charm!
5T0CK1AY0UT5
Worked for an about 20% discount on orders over $25!
5T0CK1AY0UT5 only gives the 20% off your first purchase
Me too. iStockphoto only applies a 20% discount on the 5T0CK1AY0UT5 promo code and DOES NOT apply the free images as well.
Anything getting done about this?
5T0CK1AY0UT5 really works
Just used this promo code and got $14 off my $70 purchase... not bad.
Did iStockPhoto raise prices?
I don't get it - on their homepage, iStockPhoto advertises $1 pricing for their extra small images. However, all the images I'm looking at seem to have a $2 starting price tag. Did iStock increase their pricing for 2010 but forget to update their website to reflect the new prices?
Exclusive photos cost more
There was a change in their cost structure, that confused us as well. After a phone call with an iStockPhoto support rep, we learned that there is a new category of photos - exclusive. These are from photographers that give iStockPhoto exclusive license to their works. As a result, iStockPhoto charges more for these. In our experience, the majority of photos on iStockPhoto are now exclusive, which means the $1 fee hardly applies anymore. That's a shame.
Beware: iStockPhoto doesn't honor all...
Beware: iStockPhoto flatly refuses to honor all terms of all coupons.
After signing up and buying iStockPhoto credits, when I tried to get a couple of the 20 free images promised above, the lady in iStockPhoto's stubborn (and sometimes cranky) customer "service" department told me they only honor the "20 free images" aspect of the coupon IF you come in *through* their partner-company named in the offer.
After a loooong conversation with her, she completely refused to honor the "20 free images" part of these coupons above.
I DID get the 20% overall discount, however, as that was automatic.
